According to a recent report by Public Citizen, a nonprofit group based in Washington, D.C., the number of medical malpractice payouts is on the decline in the U.S. Indeed, data collected from Pennsylvania courts shows a similar decrease in medical malpractice suits compared to 10 years ago.

FDA seeks to learn more about drugs that may cause drowsy driving

When evaluating the safety of a drug intended to help people get to sleep, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration first looks at whether the drug does what it is intended to do safely. An emerging safety concern, however, is whether the drug can cause drowsiness the morning after use. The fear is that users may be getting behind the wheels of their cars even though they may be impaired and pose a serious threat of causing a car accident.

Number of fatal car crashes down across the U.S.

Just 10 years ago, it seemed as if the U.S. was poised to experience a sharp increase in the number of fatal car accidents across the country. As the number of auto accident deaths due to drunk driving began to decrease, the problem of distracted driving emerged and became a serious safety threat. Nevertheless, statistics indicate that the number of fatal car accidents is decreasing across the country.
