John Goldstan
joined Leisawitz Heller following 31 years as a solo
practitioner. A magna cum laude graduate from Tufts
University, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the
Dickinson School of Law. He is a member of the
Pennsylvania and Berks County Bar Associations.
Activities
Over his career, John has handled
almost every type of legal matter imaginable, including
criminal defense, unemployment compensation claims and
landlord tenant disputes. His arrival at Leisawitz Heller,
however, allows John to focus his practice in a few key
areas where he has extensive experience: estate planning
and administration, workers’ compensation and elder law.
As a consulting attorney for the Berks County Office of
Aging, he brings significant consumer advocacy experience
to the firm’s Elder Law Group. Whether representing
seniors in guardianship proceedings or resolving disputes
with landlords and caregivers, John is a skilled elder law
advocate. He also took the lead with Bill Blumer in the
firm’s elder law practice group to author the latest
version of the Berks County Bar Association’s Older and
Wiser, a publication for senior citizens which has
received national acclaim.
John has significant estate experience, both in planning
and with the drafting of wills, trusts and powers of
attorney, and also the administration of trusts and
estates. “I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction
helping families get through an estate’s administration,”
he says, “because I feel in a small way I’m helping to
lighten their load in a very difficult time.” His
experience in litigating workers’ compensation claims is
also extensive. “I really enjoy helping people get back on
their feet financially after a work-related injury.
