Moore, Esq., Chairman of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, recently served on a panel of regional employment law experts in a presentation to business executives and attorneys. On September 30, 2008, Sterling Educational Services (“SES”) sponsored the 2008 Employment Law Update, held at the Hilton Gardens Hotel in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Kevin lectured on the topic of Privacy in the Workplace and Conducting an Internal Investigation. “The dramatic advances in communications technology is driving a fundamental change in how employees behave and how employers monitor that behavior in and outside the workplace” Moore stated. “Employers and employees need to know the rules of the game have changed with the change in technology.”
Kevin is the Chairman of the Berks County Bar Association Employment Law Section,

SENIORS
BENEFIT FROM ECONOMIC STIMULUS ACT
WYOMISSING, PA (February 28,2008)-- Seniors can benefit
from the economic stimulus law enacted on February 13,
2008, but they need to file an income tax return.
Seniors, disabled veterans, and veterans' widows will
receive $300 payments if they earned $3,000 in Social
Security or veterans' disability benefits in 2007. In
addition, workers who earned at least $3,000, but not
enough to pay income taxes, will be eligible for
payments of $300. For higher income individuals, the law
provides rebate checks of up to $600 per individual. The
stimulus payment begins to phase out for individuals
with adjusted gross incomes (AGI) over $75,000 and
married couples who file a joint return with AGI over
$150,000.

13,2008)-- To understand my father as a lawyer, it is
necessary to have some background on his pre-law life.
My father graduated from Reading High School in 1934. He
was 5’5” and weighed only 115 pounds. Looking at his
senior class picture, you would have thought that he had
just graduated from junior high instead of high school.
He never participated in any sports at Reading High.
Nevertheless, upon entering the University of Michigan
in the fall of 1934, he joined Theta Chi Fraternity, an
apparent “jock house” and, for reasons unknown, promptly
decided to go out for the Michigan wrestling team.

HEALTH CARE POWER OF ATTORNEY & LIVING WILL STATUTES CHANGE
WYOMISSING, PA (January 29, 2007) -- Effective January 29, 2007, Pennsylvania enacted a new Health Care Power of Attorney statute and modified its existing Living Will statute. These new laws substantially change the duties of agents appointed under Health Care Powers of Attorney and Living Wills. Unfortunately, there remain significant ambiguities in the language of the new statutes that will need to be clarified by the courts and the legislature.
