We lost a dear friend and great colleague on Tuesday, August, 21. Mervin A. Heller, Jr. was the Managing Partner of Leisawitz Heller from 2005 through 2008.

A graduate of East Stroudsburg University and Pittsburgh School of Law, Merv was an accomplished attorney and role model in Berks County. Among many awards and honors, Merv most recently was recognized by his alma mater, East Stroudsburg University (ESU), in 2010 with the Helen G. Brown Honor Award for his notable lifelong accomplishments.

In addition to his academic prowess, Merv was a college tennis champ. In 2001 and 2002 Merv was President, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the United States Tennis Association. In 1999, the Reading Eagle recognized Heller as "one of the 50 most influential sports figures over the past 50 years" in Berks County.

Merv Heller practiced law in Berks County for over thirty-five years. His practice focused on representing business clients. He was particularly adept in handling real estate development projects. Merv believed "a good attorney advises and represents his clients by combining a common sense approach to the issues, an understanding of his client's needs and a thorough knowledge of the law."

Merv will always be remembered for his hard work, determination but most of all his lively spirit. Merv was a fighter until the end, just as he was each and every day in the office and in life. A true family man who cared for everyone. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Heller family. You will truly be missed but never forgotten, old friend. May you rest in eternal peace.

Here is a tribute to Merv that aired on Wednesday, August, 22 on channel 69 News, Berks Edition at 5:30pm.
