Pennsylvania head-on crash results in 1 death and 3 injuries

A head-on crash that occurred between a pickup truck and a sedan Aug. 23 in upper Bucks County has resulted in one death and injuries to three people. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Richlandtown Pike in Springfield Township. A 72-year-old Summerfield, Florida, woman was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck south on Richlandtown Pike at the same time that a 25-year-old Allentown man, driving a Honda Civic with two passengers on board, was heading north on the same road.

According to reports, the driver of the pickup failed to maintain her lane, resulting in her vehicle crossing over the centerline and crashing head-on with the Civic. As a result of the crash, the pickup flipped over on its side and skidded for some distance. The impact from the crash pushed the Civic backwards.

The driver of the Civic was pronounced dead at the scene. Both of his passengers, a 22-year old Allentown man and a 24-year-old Hellertown woman, suffered severe injuries and were transported by air to a hospital in Fountain Hill. Neither passenger was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the pickup, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. Pennsylvania State Police investigated the accident using their crash reconstruction team.

The sudden death of a loved one due to an auto accident can result in significant loss to the victim's family. The loss of companionship can be made even more difficult if the accident results in financial loss. When negligence is the cause of a fatal accident, the victim's family deserves compensation for their losses. Anyone in similar circumstances might want to contact a lawyer to see if it would be possible to file a wrongful death lawsuit.
