Woman suffers burns in Pennsylvania gas station accident

A 21-year-old woman suffered severe burns in an accident that occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 in Kensington. The accident happened at the Sunoco station at Somerset Street and Aramingo Avenue when another driver mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal. This led to the second car T-boning the woman's car. A gas pump then turned over and started a fire, which the woman was unable to completely avoid.

The consequences of wrong-site surgery

Since 1999, medical research teams have been studying statistics concerning wrong-site surgeries. This information includes facts about wrong-patient and wrong-procedure treatments, consequences of surgical errors and preventative actions taken. However, reporting the events is voluntary, so the total number of wrong-site surgeries reported may be far lower than the actual occurrences.

Pennsylvania motorcycle accident kills 1, injures 1

On August 29, a 55-year-old woman was killed and a 49-year-old man was injured around 5:30 p.m. in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a van. Police said the motorcycle, which was being operated by the man, was traveling north on Bruceton Road when the van crossed the centerline from the opposite lane and crashed into the motorcycle. The impact threw both riders, who were wearing helmets, from the bike.
