A truck accident in Pennsylvania can cause serious damage to anyone involved in the accident. When a truck hits a car, the car can suffer from a lot of damage because it is so much smaller than the commercial truck. However, cars do have some protection in cases of an accident. There are airbags, seatbelts, crumple zones, special padding and more to help protect individuals inside the car. Yet, still truck accidents cause serious injuries to those inside other vehicles.
However, cars are not the only victims of truck accidents. Anyone on the roadway can fall victim to a truck accident. These accidents can be particularly dangerous for pedestrians and others without the protection of a larger vehicle.
Recently, an accident in Pennsylvania killed a pedestrian when he was struck by a tractor-trailer. According to reports, the man was struck on Interstate 83 in Manchester Township. The accident occurred at 12:38 p.m. near mile marker 25. Reports claim that the man had left his car in order to change a flat tire. While outside of his car, he was hit by a large truck.
Following the accident, the truck driver stopped and was cooperating with police. Police were on the scene until 6:00 p.m. that day investigating the accident. The 78-year-old victim of this fatal truck accident was undergoing an autopsy to determine the exact cause of his death.
When a truck accident occurs, it is important that its cause is investigated. If the truck accident is caused by a negligent driver or by a negligent truck company, then the negligent party can be held legally responsible for damages related to the accident.
