There are many important reasons why large commercial trucks can be found on Pennsylvania roads. These large vehicles are responsible for carrying consumer goods into and out of the state. This cheap transportation helps to keep consumer prices low for all Pennsylvanian residents.
But these benefits come at a cost, as there is always the risk of a serious truck accident. Because of the size of these vehicles, even a minor truck accident can result in very serious injuries to those traveling in other cars and trucks. These injuries can include broken bones, head injuries, spinal cord and injuries. Sadly, many truck accidents are even fatal.
This was the case in a recent Pennsylvania accident. According to reports, the wreck occurred around 3:00 a.m. in Susquehanna County. Specifically, reports claim that a semi-truck hit the back of a passenger car in Harford Township on Interstate 81.
Following the accident, the driver of the car was taken to a local hospital. However, the 25-year-old was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. Additionally, two children who were inside the car also died in the accident. Two other passengers from the car suffered injuries in this devastating truck accident. The trucker was also treated for minor injuries.
Truck accidents like this one are often caused by the negligence of a trucker and/or the truck company for which he or she works. When negligence plays a role in a truck accident, those injured may be entitled to compensation via a personal injury lawsuit. If the accident caused fatal injuries, the families of those killed may be able to recover compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit. Those Pennsylvanians who are affected by tragic truck wrecks should be sure to consider their legal options and act on them accordingly.
